About Eastern Panhandle United
Eastern Panhandle United is a volunteer public-information project documenting data center development in Berkeley and Jefferson Counties, along with relevant information like in regards to the technology, ethics surrounding it, privacy, etc. This page explains why we created the site, who is behind it, and how you can get involved.
Why we created this site
Data center projects the size of those proposed in the Eastern Panhandle have not happened here before, and the government has made it difficult for citizens to find correct information about the sites. We dedicated this website to the working class citizens of the Eastern Panhandle, and West Virginian's who deserve to understand what is going into their communities. The intentions are to display information shows the broader picture of the hyperscale data center buildouts. Much of the information is scattered, and requires in depth searching or a FOIA request to even find the documents.
We are not a company, a political party, or a government agency. We are neighbors and volunteers who want our community to be able to make informed decisions about what is being built, where, and at what cost. We believe that the power belongs in the hands of the people to make these decisions, and that if we come together - we can legitimate bring responsible and sustainable change to our communities.
